Many of you who knew Mum understand that she, like all of us, was multifaceted, with both light and shade. Personally, our early years had a bit too much shade, but eventually, the light prevailed, and we shared many years filled with love. With experience guiding us, we navigated the ups and downs of a mother and son relationship. Even when at loggerheads, if I needed her, she was always there; never once was I refused. She was the iron rod in my life, a constant presence already missed dearly. I feel robbed of the years that could have created happy memories but am at peace knowing she's free from the shackles of Parkinson's. I will be forever grateful for the role she played in breaking the estrangement I had with Laura and Jaimey when they were younger children. Without her diplomacy and driving force, my relationship with them may never have recovered to the extent it has, and I'd have a very different and less fulfilled life. Mum's greatest gift of all is the love and support of my brothers and sister. Rest in peace, Mum. Love your Martin x
